# Step 2: Unpack the files

Unpack the compressed files that you downloaded to manually install the PDI client, utilities, and plugins.

Complete the following steps to unpack the compressed files.

**CAUTION:**

Do not use Unarchiver 3.3 to unpack files because Unarchiver 3.3 might corrupt the plugin file names.

1. Locate the files that you downloaded in [Step 1: Download files](/install/10.2-install/pentaho-installation-overview-cp/installation-of-the-pentaho-design-tools/install-the-pdi-tools-and-plugins/step-1-download-files.md).
2. Unpack the `pdi-ee-client-10.2.0.0-<build number>.zip` file into a temporary directory.
3. If you downloaded the `pdi-ee-client-10.2.0.0-<build number>-hadoop-addon.zip` file, unpack the file into a temporary directory.
