# Assign Users to Roles

Perform the following steps to assign users to roles in the Pentaho User Console.

1. Click the **Manage Users** tab.
2. Click to highlight the user from the **Users** list that you want to associate with a role.
3. In the **Available** list, click to highlight the role that you want to associate with the selected user.
4. Click the right arrow (**>**) to move the role to the **Selected** list.

Your highlighted user now has all the permissions associated with the role in the **Selected** list.
