# Share a semantic model

Share a semantic model by adding a user or role and assigning permissions to let them view, edit, or share the model.

Complete the following steps to share a semantic model with a user or role:

1. Log into the **Pentaho User Console** (PUC). &#x20;
2. Open the Semantic Model Editor by taking one of the following actions:

   * If you are using the Modern Design of PUC, in the menu on the left side of the page, click **Semantic Model Editor**.
   * If you are using the Classic Design of PUC, click **File** > **Semantic Model Editor**.&#x20;

   The **Semantic Model Editor** opens. &#x20;
3. In the **Semantic Models** list, navigate to the model you want to share by searching or scrolling through the list.&#x20;
4. In the row that contains the semantic model you want to share, click the **More Actions** icon, and select **Share**. The **Share&#x20;*****Name*****&#x20;Model** window opens.&#x20;
5. In the **Add username or role** box, enter or select the user or role to which you want to share the model.&#x20;
6. Click the **Allowed to** box. A window with options for sharing opens.
7. Turn on the toggle for one or more of the following options:&#x20;
   * **Change Connection of Semantic Models**
   * **Delete Semantic Models**
   * **Edit Semantic Models**
   * **Share Semantic Models**
   * **View Semantic Models**
8. Click **+ Add** to add the user with the permissions that you selected.
9. Click **Apply**. The user or role you added is assigned the permissions that you selected.
