# Explore your data

Using **Explore your data**, you can examine your data to discover files across various data sources and understand the history, usage, ownership, and applied domains and terms. If your data sources are supported by Data Optimizer, then you can also perform manual file tiering or purging.

Click **Open Data Canvas**, to open the Data Canvas in Data Catalog. Select your data source to explore the content. To manually migrate or delete a file, click the **Actions** button.
