Step 3: Install licenses

Install licenses so that you can use the Pentaho software and features that you are entitled to access.

Note: These steps do not apply for trial license activation. See Acquire a trial license in the Administer Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics document for trial licensing details.

Complete the following steps to acquire, activate, and install an enterprise license:

1. Contact the Sales team and acquire the necessary licenses.

   When you have acquired your licenses, you will receive an email with an activation ID or cloud license server information, which is needed to unlock the purchased components.

2. Deploy a local license server or a cloud license server to manage license activation:

   • Local server deployment: See Activate a license using a local license server in tthe Administer Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics document.

     Note: If your environment has a security restriction that prevents the license server from reaching the back office URL, use offline activation. See Activate offline entitlements for a local license server in the Administer Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics document.

   • Cloud deployment: See Activate a license using a cloud license server in the Administer Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics document.
