Download and unpack installation files
The Pentaho Server and Operations Mart installation files are delivered as compressed files that need to be downloaded and unpacked into the correct directories prior to starting the Pentaho archive installation process.
The Pentaho Server software, data files, and examples are stored in pre-packaged .zip files. You must manually copy these files to the correct directories.
Download files
To install the Pentaho system, you must first download the compressed files for the Pentaho Server and the Operations Mart plugin.
Complete the following steps to download compressed files from the Support Portal:
On the Support Portal home page, sign in using the Pentaho support username and password provided in your Pentaho Welcome Packet.
In the Pentaho card, click Download. The Downloads page opens.
In the 11.x list, click Pentaho 11.0 GA Release. Note: You might need to click See all <number> articles to see the full list of 11.x downloads.
Scroll to the bottom of the Pentaho 11.0 GA Release page.
In the file component section, navigate to the
Pentaho Server\Archive Build (Suggested Installation Method)folder.Download the Pentaho Server installation file,
pentaho-server-ee-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zipIn the file component section, navigate back to the
11.0.0.0-GAfolder.Click the
Operations Martfolder.Download the
pentaho-operations-mart-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zipfile.
Unpack installation files
You must unpack the Pentaho Server and Operations Mart installation files and move the contents to the correct directories for an archive installation.
Complete the following steps to unpack the installation files and move the contents to the correct directories:
Locate the following two files that you downloaded in the previous section:
Pentaho Server:
pentaho-server-ee-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zipOperations Mart:
pentaho-operations-mart-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zip
Unpack the
pentaho-server-ee-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zipinto the\pentaho\serverdirectory.Unpack the
pentaho-operations-mart-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zipinto the\pentaho\serverdirectory.Move the directory for your database into
pentaho\server\pentaho-server\data\<database name>and delete the others. The appropriate database names are shown in the following table:DatabaseDirectoryPostgreSQL
postgresqlMySQL
mysql5Oracle
oracle10gMS SQL Server
sqlserverComplete the steps for installing Data Integration Operations Mart in the Administer Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics document before installing your database.
Verify directory structure
After you have finished unpacking installation files, the newly created Pentaho directory structure should contain directories and subdirectories for the Pentaho Server and Operations Marts plugin.
Verify that the Pentaho files are placed in the correct locations by comparing the pentaho directory structure, as shown, with yours.
