Step 1: Download files

To install the PDI client and, if needed, the Hadoop utilities, begin by downloading the appropriate compressed installation files.

Perform the following steps to download the PDI ZIP file from the Support Portal.

1. On the Support Portal home page, sign in using the Pentaho support username and password provided in your Pentaho Welcome Packet.

2. In the Pentaho card, click Download. The Downloads page opens.

3. In the 11.x list, click Pentaho 11.0 GA Release.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the Pentaho 10.0 GA Release page.

5. In the file component section, navigate to the Client Tools\PDI(Spoon) folder.

6. Download the pdi-ee-client-11.0.0.0-<build number>.zip file.

7. (Optional) If you plan to perform any of the following tasks with the PDI client, also download the pdi-ee-client-10.3.0.0-<build number>-hadoop-addon.zip file:

   • Connect to a Hadoop cluster. See Use Hadoop with Pentaho for information on Hadoop connections with Pentaho. Also see PDI steps and entries included in the Hadoop add-on installation for further details of what transformation steps and job entries are included in the add-on.

   • Create or use a Pentaho Data Service. See also the Pentaho Data Integration document for information on creating and publishing a Pentaho Data Service.
