Install a new driver

Hadoop drivers are now packaged with the pentaho-big-data-ee-plugin. To add a new driver, first download the driver specific pentaho-big-data-ee-plugin from the Support Portal then unzip the plugin to the plugins folder of PDI. For PDI, the path to the plugins folder is data-integration/plugins and for Pentaho Server, it is pentaho-server/pentaho-solutions/system/kettle/plugins.

Perform the following steps to add a new driver.

1. Download the new driver from the Support Portal.

   1. On the Support Portal home page, sign in using the Pentaho support username and password provided in your Pentaho Welcome Packet.

   2. In the Pentaho card, click Download.

      The Downloads page opens.

   3. In the 11.0 list, click See all <number> articles to see the full list of 11.0 downloads.

   4. On the 11.0 page, click Pentaho 11.0 GA Release.

   5. Scroll to the bottom of the Pentaho 11.0 GA Release page.

   6. In the file component section, browse to the Big Data Shims folder and download the driver file that you need.

      The following table lists the vendor specific pentaho-big-data-ee-plugin files that are available in the PDI Plugins folder.

2. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded your pentaho-big-data-ee-plugin-<release-version>-<vendor>.zip driver from the Support Portal.

3. Select the driver (.zip file) you want to add and copy it to the <pentaho home>/server/pentaho-server/pentaho-solutions/system/kettle/plugins directory on the machine with the Pentaho Server.

4. Now you must restart the PDI client and the Pentaho Server in order for the installation to complete.
