The Browse Files perspective helps you keep your files and folders organized to make them easier to find and use. In the Browse Files perspective, the available folders, files, and actions depend on your role and permissions.

Browse Files perspective

Indicates the Browse Files perspective. Shows the location of your files and the different actions that you can perform. Your files are available locally and through the repository or a virtual connection to a specific file system.

Folders pane

Shows a list of folders that you can browse through to locate your files. You can also create new folders or delete old ones. The following folder sources are shown:

  • Repository contains your Home folder and shows the Public folder when enabled.

  • VFS Connections shows virtual folder locations based on your access permissions and root folder path. VFS locations can include:

    • Amazon S3/Minio/HCP

    • Azure Data Lake Gen 1

    • Azure Data Lake Gen 2/Blob

    • Google Cloud Storage

    • HCP REST

    • Local

    • SMB/UNC Provider

After you select a folder in the Folders pane, the Actions pane lists the folder operations that you can perform.

When the Trash folder is selected, shows the Trash Contents pane.

Files pane

Shows a list of all files contained in the folder that is selected in the Folders pane. After you select a file in the Files pane, the Actions pane lists the file operations you can perform.

VFS Connections shows report-generated output files from the VFS-based schedule outputs. Visibility is based on your access permissions and root folder path. The output files can be any of the following types:

  • HTML

  • PDF

  • Excel

  • Comma Separated Value

  • Rich Text-Format

  • Text

Note: Contact your administrator for the inclusion of file types.

The Trash Contents pane shows the folders and files moved to trash.

Actions pane

Shows the actions that you can perform depending on the selection made in the Folders pane or the Files pane, as follows: - The Folder Actions pane includes options to:

-   Create, delete, and rename folders.
-   **Paste** files in a folder.
-   Upload files.
-   Download files.
-   View the **Properties** of a folder, **Allow Scheduling**, set to **Hidden**, and control the folder’s **Share** permissions \(**Manage Permissions**, **Delete**, **Write**, and **Read**\) for **Users and Roles**.

Note: No actions are available for folders in VFS Connections.

  • The File Actions pane includes options to:

    • Open files in the current window or in a new one.

    • Edit, delete, cut, copy, or paste files or folders.

    • Share files with others.

    • Add files to your Favorites widget.

    • View the Properties of a file or folder.Note: Only the Open and Open in New Window actions are available for VFS Connections files.

  • The Actions for Trash pane includes options to:

    • Empty the Trash to permanently delete any files and folders in the Trash Contents pane.

    • Restore a folder or file from the Trash Contents pane to its original location.

    • Permanently Delete a folder or file from from the Trash Contents pane.
